Deep Ecology

What does "deep ecology" mean to you? Don't look it up, just describe your understanding of the phrase. What does it evoke in your heart when you hear those words together?

I second this :).
To me, it's a Very Broad Brush look at ecology -- Ecosystem level as opposed to population/community/local ecology.
very first thing i thought of was this:

that humans have a right to be here, but not everywhere all at once. to me, deep ecology allows for the idea that there should be a place where humans don't go, where trails don't exist, and where "nature" (whatever that is) has a right to just BE.

good lord! i've never even visited this community before and i just spouted off!! oh well.
